Trump says U.S. doesn't have 'very good security' amid DOGE access concerns

President Trump lamented on Friday that the US doesn't have “very good security” when discussing how Elon Musk and the Government Efficiency (DOGE) can access federally sensitive information this week I did.

When asked why Doge needed to access American personal information like Social Security Numbers, Trump said, “Well, it's not. But they get it very easily.”

“So we don't have very good security in our country,” the president continued at a press conference on Friday with the Japanese prime minister and prime minister.

The statement said that Musk and his Doge team face scrutiny in court and that by some Democrats, they seek to cut down the federal bureaucracy. It comes as something about how much access you have to do.

Last week, reports surfaced that Doge employees had access to a critical payment system and ousted a three-year Treasury veteran.

The New York Times reported Thursday that the Treasury Chief of Staff is promoting the use of access to payment systems to freeze payments from the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The White House and Treasury Department maintain that the administration is conducting a review of financial services, and DOGE employees observe, rather than changing the payments being made through the agency. He insisted that he could do it.

The agency maintained that two Doge staff were given “read-only” access to the Treasury's highly sensitive payment system, but one of them is capable of rewriting the basic code of the payment system. It suggested there is.

The Justice Department agreed on Wednesday to limit the number of DOGE employees who have access to sensitive federal payment systems.

Under the order, two staff members were allowed to have access to financial services, but they cannot edit or modify the system that manages 90% of federal payments.

Musk and his Doge allies moved forward this week with an aggressive campaign to cut federal bureaucracy and spending. On his first day in office, Trump issued a federal government hiring a freeze, offering a postponed resignation package to thousands of workers.
