Elon Musk has not bid on TikTok and has no plans to, he says in interview

Elon Musk is not interested in purchasing Tiktok's American Business from Chinese companies' ordinances, according to new public comments.

Recently released Video interview at the Welt Economic SummitDoge's chief said he didn't use the app and could not find any motivation to pursue a purchase.

“I have never actually bid for Tiktok. I have no plans for what I would do if there was Tiktok,” Musk told the German Forum.

Musk went on to say that he doesn't generally buy a company and only does it when he can see altruistic reasons.

“I don't buy very rare companies. Getting Twitter, now called X, was very rare. I usually build a company from scratch,” Musk said.

“The reason I bought Twitter, what I said at the time, is that it is important to maintain free speech in America, and to the extent that we are legally permitted to do so, we are not in other parts of the world. Because it was important,” he said.

Tiktok was successfully banned by the US Congress and is currently operating within the 75-day grace period given by President Donald Trump.

The world's wealthiest man said buying X is a “important and productive step for humanity's future.”

“I don't know if the same logic applies to Tiktok,” Musk said, adding that there are purely economic benefits to purchasing an ordinance-owned app.

Congress passed a ban on Chinese-owned apps last year, but President Trump has stopped acting and has given him more time to pursue buyers for American businesses.

The president previously approved at a press conference last month that his first companion would buy Tiktok from Baitedan.

Currently, Vice President JD Vance is tasked with overseeing the sale of the social media giant, which has 170 million users in the US.

For 75 days, President Trump postponed removal from the US app store and suspended the ban approved by Congress on his first day in office.
