It appears that there will be a third Belichick on the UNC coaching staff this fall.
Bill Belichick's youngest son, Brian, is expected to join UNC's defensive staff as safety coach for this upcoming college football season. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247Sports.
Brian is set to join his brother Steve. Steve will join UNC staff as defensive coordinator.
Both brothers have previous NFL experience coaching under a patriot father.
Brian has coached safety in New England over the past five seasons. Steve served as multiple patriot defensive roles for 12 years before becoming Washington University defensive coordinator in 2024.
“This opportunity is fantastic,” Brian told reporters last month about his father's transition to college football. “UNC is incredible schools, football programs, an exciting fanbase, there. I don't have a lot of background about it. People are excited, and that's great.”
After graduating from Trinity College in 2016, Brian joined the staff of his father in New England, starting in the scouting division before moving to coaching assistant, and later promoted to lead safety coach in 2020.
Brian was eventually let go by the newest head coach of the Patriots, Mike Vrabel, who was hired in January.
“Brian is a little different [than Steve]more intellectually, I started out in the scouting department and then went to defensive assistants. Last year, Foxborough podcast. “I think Brian has grown a lot from coaching a variety of players. There are guys like me in the room, so you're coaching guys older than you, guys who've been in the league for a long time. Masu.”
Since being appointed head coach at UNC in December, the school has not officially announced the hiring of Bill's staff outside of general managers, but the majority of its important roles have been met.
