NYC mom charged in bathtub death of 6-year-old daughter was ‘baptizing’ the girl: prosecutors

A disrupted Brooklyn mom, who was arrested after her 6-year-old daughter was found dead in her bathtub, told police she was “baptized by her daughter,” prosecutors said. He spoke in court on Sunday.

Police say 26-year-old Karla Espinal (who was detained without bail) made a shocking claim after officers learned that blood clots had sunk in his family's Highland Park home on Friday. It is being done.

According to court records, Madeline's relatives described the horrifying scene.

ESPINAL is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation and is currently undergoing suicide monitoring, prosecutors said.

Sources said the girl, who said she was likely underwater for 20 minutes, was rushed to Brookdale University Medical Center where she was declared dead.

Madeline's father, Jorge Tavares, told police that his young daughter was alive and well just an hour ago.

Espinal, who wore a surgical mask in court, was arrested for second assault, reckless danger and endangering the welfare of a child's accusation.

Prosecutors said they were awaiting the results of the autopsy, which would determine whether ESPINAL could face additional charges in the tragic case.

Neighbor told the Post on Saturday that he was shocked by Espinal's arrest, saying that she and her daughter always appear to be part of a happy family.

Relatives declined to comment in court on Sunday.
