UConn-Tennesse rivals have been updated

Leaded in 2007 by legendary head coach Pat Summit. Volunteer in Tennessee to the program's seventh national title. Along the way, the Vols defeated head coaches Geno Auriemma and UConn Huskies in the continuation of rivalry between two top programs in women's college basketball.

Both players didn't play again for 13 years as it was the last time Tennessee defeated the Huskies. Meanwhile, Summit retired and passed away four years later. With her death, Vols was still competing near the top of the SEC, but other programs took the mantle at the top of the country.

UCONN has rivalry for the next four games, with first-year Vols coach Kim Caldwell's team finally returning to the rivalry's winning side in Knoxville on Thursday.

The Husky and Vols took a substituted lead, but they took a 13-point run in the third quarter to take a lead that Tennessee did not abandon. UCONN slowed down the pressure and tied the game twice in the final 3:16, but the Vols scored fourth-placed Husky in an 80-76 victory, bringing the fourth-placed match against top-10 opponents After losing, he marked Tennessee's number one victory.

After the game, Auriemma was not happy and used it as an opportunity to comment on the UConn Star Paige Bueckers.

“Paige always wants to have the ball so when they lock her in, she doesn't want to have the ball,” Olienma said. “So now we're going to move her from something else and move without the ball. So we have to do something decisive here. How do we handle that? .”

There was an odd response, especially considering Beaker had the chance to put the Husky on a break late in the fourth, but Auriemma called for a timeout to stop the play on that track.

Texas Hand South Carolina Rares Second Defeat

Gamecock and No. 5 of Austin, Texas, 2nd South Carolina Texas Longhorns We played our second regular season game against each other.

In the first game, South Carolina was relentless, making plays difficult and preventing Texas' top playmakers from becoming productive. The Gamecocks held the Longhorns at 50 points in a 17-point victory, but Sunday was a different story.

South Carolina didn't lead the Longhorns on Sunday afternoon, and sophomore forward Madison Booker was not rejected twice, scoring 20 points with 11 rebounds. He was far from seven points in 34 minutes on January 12th against South Carolina.

The 66-62 victory marks the fourth victory over Texas' top 10 opponents this season, and only the Gamecocks' second loss this season. For South Carolina, the program has lost two regular-season games in the season since the 20-21 season, stopping a 57-game SEC regular-season winning streak for head coach Dawn Staley's side.

“They confused us,” Staley said. “We worked on what we could to relieve the pressure, but it didn't work. It's much easier when we're practicing and not in this environment.”

Well, by chance, UConn and South Carolina will play each other on Sunday and set up a matchup for the two National Championship programs in a game that shows each side is ready to head into the postseason .

Too many for Buckeyes

In the Big Ten, 8th Ohio State headed for the toughest road trips in college basketball, traveling thousands of miles to face first and seventh in the country.

It began Wednesday, with the Buckeyes facing the No. 1 UCLA Bruins. Ohio State stayed in the game in three-quarters, tied it 44-44 early in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for scar and grey, basketball games were four-quarters, with the Bruins surged late.

National Player of the Year candidate Laurenbetts scored 6-foot-7 center to nine points without double and triple teaming, while Ohio's defense was out of 19 points in the second quarter. I discovered I got 10 points.

Ohio State also forced 23 turnovers, but that didn't turn into an easy attack, and the Buckeyes shot 29.4% off the field and missed many open looks in a 65-52 defeat .

The defensive positivity from loss to the Bruins gave the Buckeyes momentum southward to play guard Juju Watkins and the Trojan horse on Saturday night.

Defensive Player of the Year candidate Taylor Thierry shrouded Watkins and fired in his second third with 10 points, scoring six points from the free throw line. When Thierry was fouled out in the fourth quarter, Watkins added another seven points, but at that point the game was already over for visitors from Ohio.

In a row in the second game, the Buckeyes forced 23 turnovers, lowering the season by 29.4%. USC also used the size to its advantage, rebounding the OSU 62-30 with three starters hitting double doubles, while the other two were only two rebounds away from double doubles.

Forward Kiki Iriafen dealt the most damage on the home side, scoring 24 points on both team highs with 13 rebounds in a 84-63 USC victory.

Currently, the Buckeyes are playing all of the remaining regular season and Big Ten tournament games in Eastern Standard Time, including four of the six games at home. If Ohio State wins, it will guarantee the top four spots of the conference tournament to the side and advance to them to the quarterfinals.
