Stuttgart, Germany — Defense Secretary Pete Hegses began a trip abroad on Tuesday, spending quality time with American troops stationed in Germany early in the morning for military training.
The 44-year-old Secretary of Defense performed a “hero workout” with green berets from the 10th Special Forces Group. This is a series of exercises honoring those who have fallen into their duties.
Hegseth arrived in Germany around 2am that morning and trained despite only sleeping for a few hours. When asked why it was important for him to do Sue, he said it was hearing directly from the military.
“Listen, it wasn't long ago that I was there with them,” said retired Army Major Hegses.
“I probably connect with more people than a four-star general. But now I have the opportunity to work with four stars and others who are committed to the military. But , when I can get off, I just do push-ups and deadlifts with the troops and listen to them – what's at work, what's not, how your mission sees I love it,” he said.
“So, despite coming in at 2am, there was no doubt that I would get up and deepen my PT a few hours later,” he said.
He joked. . ”
Earlier that morning, he posted a photo from his training to X, adding: 1/10 I kicked off the day with a PT with the SFG warrior. There is no bureaucracy – just a sharp mind, a strong body, a mission-first way of thinking. ”
He also posted a video after his training, saying, “The best of our country. We are honored to spend the morning with these warriors.”
The posts seen by millions have attracted overwhelming acclaim from veterans and non-betalans.
One soldier from the 10th group has become a virus among the military circles, especially due to his muscular height, and even turned into a humorous meme by some.
Hegseth is the Pentagon's top priority, focusing on lethality, and a departure from previous administrations that focused on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
