Trump rips into Mitch McConnell over RFK vote: ‘He wasn’t equipped 10 years ago mentally’

President Donald Trump said he felt sorry for former Kentucky Republican leader Mitch McConnell, and expressed his opinion that he was mentally unequipped with the work he had.

Trump made it comment On Thursday, McConnell was the only Republican vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., confirmed as head of the Department of Health and Human Services.

“He's not voting against Bobby. He's voting against me.”

“I feel sorry for Mitch. And I was one of the people. He wanted to go for the last time. He wanted to be a leader. He wasn't equipped mentally. That was it,” Trump said. “He was mentally unequipped ten years ago, in my opinion.”

He went on to call McConnell “bitter” and persuaded him to step down as leader.

McConnell released an explanation that McConnell was unable to vote for Kennedy because he suffered from polio as a child and opposed allegations of crusades against Kennedy's vaccine.

“I am a childhood polio survivor. In my lifetime, I have seen vaccines save millions of lives from catastrophic diseases in America and around the world.” I said McConnell. “I will not tolerate re-cased proven treatments, nor will my millions of Americans who trust survival and quality of life in scientific miracles.”

When Trump was asked about McConnell's past brushes and polio, he said he didn't know anything about it.

“He's not voting for Bobby. He's voting against me,” Trump said. “He was supposed to be the leader. He knows that.”

Despite McConnell's opposition, Kennedy was over confirmation in the final Senate vote, 52-48.
