Under Biden There ‘Was Almost No Press Access’

On Friday's “PBS Newshour” New York Times Columnist David Brooks said, “I lived until the end of the Biden administration, so I said it wasn't too harsh in the Trump White House with banning the Associated Press from its oval office. Man. And the administration. operates the press. It's part of the job. And if they don't want to talk to the AP, it's fine. The AP can do its own reporting.”

Brooks said: “I'm a bit harsh about the Trump administration. Listen, I lived through the end of the Biden administration. And the administration operates the press. That's part of the job. And if they're the AP and the AP If you don't want to talk, it's fine. The AP can do its own reporting. And I've been through all of these administrations.”

He continued, “And I think it's a deeper problem here — and I think this is our business. I don't want to comment on the media. But we've had enough for the last 40 years. It doesn't represent Trump's voice. There have been enough working class voices over the past 40 years. So, if we did that, some of the hostility that our path will come will be there. So I'm hoping to see what Trump is doing, but I understand why he's doing it.”
