Stephen A. Smith Takes Stance on Trans Athletes Amid Rumored Political Aspirations

ESPN's Chief Hot Take Dispenser Stephen A. Smith mused about his potential assuming office after the poll revealed that the polls are only 1 percent points among Democrats.

The polls urged Smith to consider running a political office, and media raised questions about the billionaire sportstalker about the potential run. Just before last week's Super Bowl, Smith interviewed Bloomberg, where he asked him questions about his political ambitions.

In an interview posted Saturday, Smith was asked about his stance on trans athletes participating in women's sports. After saying that he considers himself a centralist in most issues, he reveals a noncenterist position on the issue of transathlete.

“That's how I see it. I'm totally supportive of it, like LGBTQ rights, but when trans athletes, men are transitioning to women and compete in women's sports, It's a different animal from me,” Smith said.

“It's not just LGBTQ rights. It's about plowing women's rights everywhere they were born, and they're at a decided disadvantage.”

If Smith were to take office, we can feel encouraged by the fact that, at least on this issue, his views are consistent with the majority of Americans. The evidence for this is that liberal networks agreed to President Trump's attitude towards transgender athletes, with 79% of Americans agreeing to his executive order to remove them from women's sports under Title IX. It came during a recent CNN segment when I recognized it.

Therefore, Smith's position on trans athletes helps him to everyday Americans. But if he's going to run as a Democrat, it won't help him much.
