President Trump won a lap on the Daytona 500 Speedway in his convoy called “The Beast.”
Trump addressed the driver before the race and ran around the inside of the racetrack.
“This is your favorite president.” Trump said. “I'm a big fan. I'm a really big fan of your people. I don't know how you'll do this. But I want you to be safe. ”
“You are talented people, you are great people, you are great Americans,” he continued. “I've had a good day and have lots of fun. I'll see you later.”
Trump traveled to Palm Beach, Florida over the weekend, and just a week after attending the Super Bowl in New Orleans, he went about 200 miles north to Daytona International Speedway for Sunday's race.
It was his first visit to the racetrack since 2020, and the Air Force flew overhead.
In 2020, Trump falsely accused Baba Wallace of a “horror” containing a rope found at a garage stall. The president cited his decision to assault Wallace and NASCAR and ban Confederate flags from the facility. Trump said Wallace, the only black full-time driver, should apologise for the incident.
