NYPD officials were shot in the shoulder by a suspected barricade while trying to serve as a search warrant at a Manhattan housing complex on Tuesday, officers said.
Emergency Services Unit officers descended at the Madison Street building of the Vladeck House development around 5:10am.
The maniac fired through the door of his apartment, initially firing three to five rounds, but no one was hit, police said.
Police continued for hours to negotiate with the barricaded man. The barricaded man fired again around 8:25am. This time he hit a police officer on the shoulder, the officer said.
The injured officer was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Officers returned the fire and appeared to have injured the gunman, sources said. His condition was not immediately known.
Police confirmed that the suspect was finally taken into custody just after 9am.
