Bernie Sanders: ‘Trumpism does not believe in democracy’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) held a grassroots event in the wake of President Trump's second term, and the changes Trump is leading as “Trumpism doesn't believe in democracy.” I'm aiming to fight.

“Why are we having town meetings across the country, especially in conservative areas, at this very moment? The answer is clear.”Sanders wroteWith the control of the Guardian. “Trumpism will not be defeated by politicians within the DC Beltway.”

Sanders said he will hold events in Omaha, Nevada and Iowa City, Iowa, and speak to people who say “no to authoritarianism” and Trump's recent federal cuts.

“Can Trumpism be defeated? Absolutely! But if we do that, we need to know exactly what we are against and how we can move forward. ” writes Sanders.

The senator emphasized that Trump is close to significantly reducing federal spending on tech billionaire Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency. He also highlighted the media movement behind Trump, including Fox News and the Musk, which owns social platform X.

Sanders noted Trump's recent post, where he likened it to French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. The president posted that “Those who save their country are not violating the law,” a phrase attributed to the French leader in the 19th century.

“Trumpism doesn't believe in democracy or the rule of law. Trump recently posted: “He who saves his country does not violate any law,” Sanders said. “In other words, Trump believes he can do whatever he wants for some reason. He can ignore Congress or the court. He's on the law.”

Sanders writes that there are real challenges Americans face and that Trump is not dealing with them.

“Our struggle, the struggle of Americans is to protect democracy and the rule of law. Equally important, we have to end the Olihead and create an economy that serves everyone, not just the few. We have to create,” Sanders said.

Monday, President's Day, protests protested Trump's presidency and opposed the role of Musk as an unelected official. Legal fights have also been underway in courts, with dozens of cases being filed.

A federal judge has suspended some of Trump's sweeping executive orders. Connecticut Attorney General Williamton (D) argues that the role of masks drives the constitution and its appointment clauses.

Sanders sent a rally to Americans who were involved and were looking to gain inspiration.

“This is a dangerous moment in American history,” he concluded. “Let's move forward together.”
