St. John’s RJ Luis Jr. misses first game of season with groin injury

Chicago – Another important St. John's player is fighting injuries.

Reed scorer RJ Luis suffered a gro caliber injury when Deivon Smith recovered from the injured right shoulder that had bothered him for a month.

The Big East Player of the Year candidate missed his first Game of the Year on 82-58 blast at Wintra Store Arina on Wednesday night.

“RJ will probably miss the gro caliber that pulled Connecticut,” coach Rick Pitino said of Sunday's game in the yard. “This is new to RJ. But RJ is a baller, he wants to play. He's never been pulled before. They could be difficult.”

Lewis was injured a few days ago. Pitino doesn't expect to practice before Sunday, but has stopped excluding Lewis.

“I'll guess. I'm not right yet,” he joked. “deivon [Smith] I thought I'd go out for 2-3 weeks. ”


Sadiku Ibine Ayo He is always the first guy to cheer on his teammates. Wednesday night was a role reversal.

Junior Reserve, who begins in place of Lewis, got the opportunity to play big minutes.

He entered the night with 20 points in the season.

“He's always been happy with us, so today was his turn to be happy,” said best friend Cuddary Richmond. I said. “He's still ready, he's always working, he never complains. I'm happy to see him have a game like this.”

Ibin Ayo said: “Amazing. Coach [Pitino] It's always hard for me. I think it will pay off. ”
