Police said Hidalgo entered the Broadway discount store before 1pm on Monday and grabbed gum, but had no money to pay.

He was arrested Wednesday at Brooklyn Crown Court and ordered $25,000 in cash bail or $50,000 in bonds on assault, arson, robbery and other charges, prosecutors said.

Hidalgo has remained freely without bail up until now despite a string of arrests. Because the less attack charge he continues to suffer is not eligible for bail under the state bail reform laws.
