President Trump spoke to Red State leaders on Thursday evening at an event hosted by the Republican Governors Association of Washington.
The statement came when Trump did more to disrupt Washington's norms in a month than what he promoted in the campaign trajectory. Since returning to the White House, the president has been moving swiftly, signing dozens of executive orders aimed at cracking down on immigrants and leaning against the culture war to overhaul the federal workforce.
Trump was expected to be led by Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Thursday to promote some of his administration's achievements. Several GOP governors have also launched their own Doge-style cost-cutting initiatives.
The president also took office last month after hosting numerous Republican governors at Florida's Marlago Real Estate.
The event took place at the National Building Museum.
