“In recent weeks, I have spoken to numerous former and current Yankees across several eras, drawing on their perspective on facial hair and grooming policies over the years, and thanking them for their serious and diverse feedback. “It's done.”
“These latest conversations are an extension of an ongoing internal dialogue that dates back several years ago, and ultimately, the final decision is up to me: Beard moving forward.
Facial Hair Policy was established in the 1970s and became part of the manual for upcoming players' teams.

“All players, coaches and male executives are prohibited from displaying facial hair other than mustaches [except for religious reasons]and scalp hair may not be grown under the collar,” reads the team manual via MLB.com. “Long sideburns and mutton chops are not specifically banned.”
The Yankees acquired near the All-Star Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason.
The Yankees' latest star initially showed up in spring workouts before shaving later, with his whiskers still intact.
Williams spurred his beard on whether long-standing policies should be changed.
The Yankees have acquired many players who had to get their long hair done and shave when they joined the team.
