Los Angeles' newly elected district attorney Nathan Hochman said Friday he asked the court to refuse a request for a new trial for the Menendez brothers.
This comes months after former district attorney George Gascon cited new evidence in the form of a letter suggesting that his brother may have been abused by his father as the reason for the new trial.

Hochman cited the issue of evidence, claiming that he did not meet the new trial standards.
Lyle and Eric Menendez were found guilty of the murder of their parents in 1989 and were sentenced to life in prison without parole.
