For Pascal Jansen, the object that will start his first season as New York City FC's new head coach is simple.
“We're looking for a top four position in the league, and we're going to challenge one of the cups,” Janssen told the Post in an exclusive conversation. “That's the mentality and environment I was looking for. … You look at my background, and we didn't have the biggest teams, but we were always competing with the big teams in the league. Success is partly, but success is also measured by rankings and victory.”
Janssen's message was on par with what NYCFC sports director David Lee said in another conversation heading into the 2025 MLS season.
City is in a year of realising they have won two wins from playing in another MLS Cup final despite fighting inconsistencies on the pitch.
