NYC gunman shoots two, barricades himself inside apartment in standoff with NYPD

Police sources say the gunman blows up a man outside a residential project in the Bronx and flees inside the building.

The 25-year-old victim was shot dead outside the Edenwald home in Nicha just after 6:15pm on Friday. The suspect ran into the building and was probably trapped in an apartment.

The NYPD hostage unit and the technical assistance response unit were both on the scene, waiting for the judge to approve the warrant before entering the apartment where the suspected attacker believed he was drilling holes.

Police were allowed to enter the apartment with permission from the owner until the expected 11:40pm, not five hours after it was supposed to be.

Upon entering, officers discovered that the apartment was empty. No suspects were found anywhere.

Police are still searching for individuals seeking shooting outside their apartment Sunday morning.
