Mexican President Sheinbaum has revealed that her government is studying a letter sent by imprisoned drug lord Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada. . The letter follows a series of countries' constitutions that undermine foreign investigations and actions against drug cartels despite the US government officially designating the Sinaloa cartel and five other Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs). This will come a few days after submitting the proposed changes.
On Friday, President Sinbaum said her staff were analyzing letters Zambada and his lawyers sent to the Mexican consulate in New York City, where they called for the Mexican government to help him repatriate. . The drug doctor claims he was not arrested but was lured and faced the death penalty. In his letter, the famous Kingpin argued that the method used in his arrest was dangerous to international relations, as it could be the same for anyone, including politicians.
During her press conference, Sinbaum said her government was concerned about how his detention took place, not who made the request.
The letter, as Breitbart Texas reported this week, puts the image of Mexico even more muddy. Shainbaum has submitted a series of proposed changes to the country's constitution that undermine foreign investigations and actions within the country unless the government allows them. The proposed changes would add criminal penalties to foreigners and Mexican citizens participating in those actions and investigations. The changes submitted came shortly after the US government officially designated the Sinaloa Cartel, the Cartel Jalisco New Generation, Los Zetas (CDN), the Gulf Cartel, La Familiar Michoacana and Guerreros Unidos as FTOS.
As reported by Breitbart Texas, Zambada's arrest occurred when he was seduced by the Godson Joaquin Guzman Lopez meeting. In the aftermath of the arrest, Mexico launched an investigation into treason over the drug lord's invitation and arrest. The arrest caused a fierce grass war as Zambada's son and his allies were fighting against the brothers Guzman Lopez, known as Los Chapitos, and their allies. The group got its name from being led by four sons of imprisoned Kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Laura.
