REPORT: Longtime NBC News Anchor Lester Holt Announces Network Departure

According to Max Tani of Semafor, Leicester Holt anchors “NBC Nightly News” 10 years later as the program's leading host, he told a colleague in an email Monday morning.

“It's time to leave my role as an anchor for every night news,” he wrote in an email, according to Thani. “Working with each of you every day is a lifelong honor, journalism is our true north, and our viewers remain at the heart of everything we do.”

Holt added that he will continue to report and anchor the “Dateline NBC” program full-time, according to the same report.

“I will expand my footprint on the broadcast and create data line times for subjects who are deeply concerned about me.
He reportedly said.

“As we get closer, I'll of course solidify the date and keep everyone in the loop,” he reportedly shared.

Holt began his NBC career in 2000. anchor “News Front,” and his own show, “Lester Holt Live,” MSNBC. He became the weekend anchor for “NBC Nightly News” in 2007 and won a regular anchor position in 2015.

Holt is one of the mainstays of many legacy media that have been moving away from the spotlight recently. MSNBC reportedly cancelled Joy Reid's night program. CNN also parted ways with Anchor Jimu Acosta in January.
