Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told Blaze News in an exclusive interview Monday.
Doge continues to make headlines, but some moderate Republicans signal Concerns about measures that masks have suffered a federal corruption overhaul. Nevertheless, Johnson reaffirms his support for masks and says it's his responsibility to “codify” Doge's orders in Congress.
“I have to codify a lot of what's going on in the administrative sector, and that's the legislative process.”
“I think finding inefficiencies and finding large examples of fraud, waste and abuse has been a long postponed,” Johnson told Blaze News. “It should be praised and will help to prepare the budget for the future. I believe it is transformative and innovative in the way government works – intentionally using the word.
Johnson also told Blaze News that he and President Donald Trump have been deploying Doge's instructions in the past few weeks, which means that he is in close contact with Musk.
“We were texting last night,” Johnson said of the mask.
Johnson has maintained a close relationship with Musk and the White House, but he noted that he still has to bridge the gap between doge and potential GOP defects.
“I have to codify a lot of what's going on in the administrative sector, and that's the legislative process,” Johnson said. “We have to find a consensus point. It's a job requirement, especially a small margin. So, it's a balanced way that people on this side of the meeting and this side of the meeting do that. You have to find the points. Everything agrees.
Johnson and Doge were on most of the same page, but he admitted there was controversy between Congress and the White House. Ultimately, Johnson and Doge share the same purpose. It deals with federal corruption and lacks growing national debt.
“We need to control that issue,” Johnson added. “That's why we found these additional funds, new sources of income, we need to use it to pay back the debts of the country. It's the most financially responsible thing, and no one else. But every American, every individual will see the benefits for a long time rather than an immediate benefit of it.”
