Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Rachaad White victim of extortion attempt, lawyers say

His lawyers were the victim of a suspect suspected that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would run through Rachaad White, his lawyer said in a statement Tuesday.

Michel Gerweiss and TJ Grimaldi said the FBI and other appropriate authorities were “considering the issue.”

“The threat and demand of illegal and honorable losses against Rachaad and his family will encounter zero tolerance.” The lawyer said in a statement. “We will continue to exercise all legal paths to protect Rachaard's rights as a victim of the Fright Tor.”

Bucs did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.

White began the season with the team starting the running, but it was slowly taken over by Rookie Bucky Irving. After rushing for 990 yards on 272 carries in 2023, those numbers hit 144 attempts and 613 yards.

White concluded his third NFL season after becoming his third pick from Arizona. Irving was also selected in the third round. Irving scored 1,122 yards and eight touchdowns in 207 rushing attempts.

The Bucs won the NFC South but were eliminated in the divisional round by the Washington commander. The Washington commander won it all the way up to the conference title game.

There is speculation that White could be a pay cap victim for the Bucs, as Sean Tucker also found a role in the Bucs backfield later in the season.
