The Trump White House quietly ratchets Doge's hopes, an Elon Musk-led effort to save trillions of dollars for taxpayers by eliminating government waste, duplication and transgender dance festivals in Bangladesh.
Instead of the $2 trillion cuts Musk recently promoted at a Wall Street conference, Trump within the team believes government efficiency can reduce waste by $500 billion.
This is a $2 trillion federal deficit on a $6.7 trillion budget and a debt counted at $37 trillion, even considering the dimensions of the problem at hand.
Of course, masks have created a lot of talk. It's a cute double endanger because it was once advertised as it was once the name of the Meme Coin Mask. The Trump White House says Doge saved taxpayers about $65 billion in the first month. This seems like a good start.
However, there are skeptics about how much Mask saves. Progressive bureaucrats have pleaded to stop him, claiming it is power abuse that the world's wealthiest man acts like he's president by cutting down the entire department and civil servant work.
And, as pointed out on these pages, many investors in his EV company Tesla think Doge is a wise sabbatical for Musk when he is hanging in the White House with President Trump, the new BFF. Musk discovers all of the government waste examples and shares the tank with Tesla in every instance he posted on Twitter (which he renamed “X” for reasons no one can grasp).
There are also stories of Trump Mask's bromance coming to an end whenever it's because Mask is too many propaganda hounds and former reality TV star Trump wants to be the center of attention all the time.

My sources offer a different perspective. They are seasoned with the GOP Wall Street type with connections with various White House administrations and members of Congress, and are now Team Trump. They acknowledge that Trump may be unpredictable. As most people know, Elon is too – but things run pretty smoothly between the two.
They say Trump appreciates what the mask brings to the table. At the time of writing this newsletter, their relationship remains solid. Plus, they say Doge has the potential to save real money. While crazy things like the Transdance Festival and Gaza condoms are attracting attention, masks have laid the foundation for not only reducing different types of strange foreign aid, but also reducing Big Ticket eligibility.
And the public is by the side of the doge. The team's internal Trump bet is that most taxpayers love the idea that even though they cut down on many civil servant jobs in the Virginia suburbs, the government is going to stop wasting money, and that the wealthiest man in the world will have their backs when it comes to wasting their money.
So, my sources believe that the Trump Musk Alliance remains strong and that $500 billion in savings is a realistic estimate because the president will ultimately apply Doge to fraud and abuses such as Medicaid, Social Security, and defense spending.
Initially, you may not meet Musk's $2 trillion savings humble brag, but Americans will take it.
