The potential No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders spoke to reporters at the NFL Combine on Friday, but was unsure.
Sanders, 23, said he knows he can turn the NFL franchise around.
“We went from Jackson to Colorado and changed two programs in a row. Don't you think we can come to the NFL franchise and change the program again? That's history. Always repeat,” Sanders said.

“If you're not trying to change your franchise or culture, don't get me, so you need to know that history is repeated over and over again.
One of the keys to turning a franchise around is strong leadership. The Colorado Star quarterback said it was his best trait.
“I'd say I'm a leader, that's my best trait. Everything is mental. So, when you go up the neck and play the game, you can adapt to the players, and to smooth them all, I've grown two types of players since I came from HBCU (Power 4 Conference), and it really exists. I said.
“That's why when I'm here, I love interacting with people, so they can really get to know me and not just clicks and stuff like that, they can really get to know me.”
Sanders emphasized the importance of being in a strong mental headspace on the field as well.

“It's very important to keep your spirit in the best place as my game plays. My game doesn't play from my feet and it's not just my arms. So I know I'm the greatest great man of all time. What is Tom Brady's best trait? What is his spirit?
Many experts say that top two quarterbacks in this class, Sanders and Miami's Come Ward aren't as good as last year's class quarterbacks.
The 2024 quarterback class included Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels, Drake May, Michael Pennix Jr., JJ McCarthy and Bo Knicks, some of those quarterbacks quickly succeeded in their rookie season.
Sanders may not have been selected highly in last year's class, but the Big 12 of the Year offensive player questioned those who didn't see him as a top quarterback more than ward in the 2025 draft class.

“When people say I'm not one of the top quarterbacks or top quarterbacks, I did it every year, so you saw the progress.
Last season, in Colorado, Sanders threw 37 touchdowns for 4,314 yards and 10 interceptions, leading Buffalo to a 9-4 record and a bowl game appearance.

Sanders' play is a major reason why the team improved to 9-4 after going 4-8 the previous season. Colorado was 1-11 a year before the Sanders family arrived.
At the top of the draft are some Needy teams of quarterbacks who can choose Sanders or Ward. The Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are shaky in their quarterback positions and have their first three picks in the draft.
Only time will know where Sanders ends and if he actually turns the franchise around.
