Former MP Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) criticized President Trump for yelling at Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky at an oval office meeting on Friday, saying “history remembers this day.”
Trump and Vice President Vance spewed with visiting Ukrainian leaders, whom Trump raised his voice and called Zelensky “disrespectful” in front of the camera.
“A generation of American patriots since our revolution have fought for the principles that Zelensky put his life at risk to protect. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelensky and pressured the KGB war criminals who invaded Ukraine to surrender his people's freedom.” post Social Platform x.
“History reminds us of this day, when the US president and vice president abandoned everything we support.”
Trump suspended foreign leaders when Zelensky suggested at a meeting on Friday that the US did not feel the impact of the war in Ukraine.
“You're not in a position so don't tell us what we're feeling… to direct what we're trying to feel,” Trump said. “We feel very good and it makes us feel very strong. You're not in a very good position right now.”
The president further told Zelensky: “You don't have a card now. With us, you start holding it.”
“You're living and gambling for millions of people. You're gambling with World War II. And what you're doing is very rude to this country, this country.
During this repetition, Zelensky was repeatedly asked by Trump and Vance whether he had said “thank you” for the billions of weapons the United States has sent Ukraine since the war began in 2022.
“If you didn't have our military equipment, this war would have ended in two weeks,” Trump said. “It's going to be extremely difficult to do business like this.”
“Please say thank you,” Vance added. “We know you're wrong.”
