House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said on Sunday in CNN's “Affiliation State” that Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cracked the code and was on the “beast of the bureaucrats.”
Host Dana Bash said: When you pass a bill to keep the government running, at least when you want what you want, you want to include a cut that reflects what he is trying to do.
Johnson said, “He showed me many examples of outrageous abuse, and I say to you, when Americans understand what's going on with our taxpayer dollars, Congress couldn't identify that even our best surveillance efforts, Elon could crack the code. He is in the belly of a beast of bureaucracy, and the algorithms raw data.”
He said, “What you're trying to see is a federal essential program, that makes sense for the US taxpayers, and that's very careful attention to ensuring that it follows common sense. Elon himself admits there's no playbook on what's going on right now. This has never been done before, and that's the point of sorts. That's why it's so exciting. He understands that some mistakes are made along the way, but they'll be fixed soon. For example, in USAID, we found out there was a huge abuse that infuriated the American people but under Marco Rubio's leadership.
