Ex-Mets GM Billy Eppler joins Brewers after MLB suspension

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Billy Eppler is back in baseball.

The former Mets general manager and Yankees executive will join the Brewers as special advisors, sources confirm and work for GM Matt Arnold.

SNY first reported development.

Major League Baseball suspended everything from last season during his time with the Mets after violating the league's injured list rules, including the “intentional manufacturing of injuries,” which the league said.

Eppler served as the Mets' general manager since November 2021, ending after the 2023 season – a strong '22 season, signing Max Shelzer and Justin Verlander, and overseeing the subsequent deals for Star Pitcher.

Descending the league's ineligible list, Eppler has returned to a game that spent decades, including a long tenure with the Yankees.

He went on to become Director and Assistant GM of Pro Scouting in 2005-15 under Brian Cashman.
