Johnny Gaudreau’s wife thanks NHL, Blue Jackets for honoring late husband

The late Johnny Gordlow's widow expressed overwhelming gratitude for the Blue Jacket and the way the NHL honored him during the Stadium Series game between the Red Wings and the Blue Jacket over the weekend.

Gaudreau, along with his brother Matthew, was struck and killed in August by suspected drunk drivers while riding a bike in New Jersey the day before his sister's wedding.

We would like to thank the hockey community, including Meredith Gaudreau's release of Heartfelt during a Stadium Series match at Ohio Stadium in Columbus since his tragic death.

“I would like to thank the NHL, the Detroit Red Wings, and especially the Columbus Blue Jacket for honouring John in so many ways this weekend's Stadium Series,” Meredith Gaudreau said. said in a statement Released on Sunday by Blue Jacket. “The management teams, players, wife and fans of both organizations made my family feel so loved and supported. Thank you for including the kids by creating a large portion of all the events throughout the weekend. I know that John really appreciates it just like I did.”

Gaudreau's family led the blue jacket to the stadium on Saturday ahead of the NHL showdown, with Columbus players wearing “Signature Johnny Fit,” consisting of black Ugg boots, black sweatpants, black amiri hats and Avalon Surf Shop sweatshirts.

Gaudreau played two previous NHL seasons in the blue jacket, before spending nine in the flames.

Meredith Gaudreau and his family also led their blue jackets out of the tunnel towards the ice before the game.

The Blue Jackets won the game, 5-3.
