When the calendar changed to March 3rd, the 2025 Formula One season began with an inch for nearly a day.
But for one team, a new arrival was brought to the factory on Monday.
Adrian Newy's tenure at Aston Martin officially began on Saturday, March 1st, entering his new role as the team's managing technical partner after Reddy Designer extended his role at Red Bull. Ahead of his first day at the factory, Aston Martin shared the image of the complete Newy office with his iconic drawing board.
In this era of technological advancements and computational fluid mechanics (CFD), Newey's drawing boards are still part of his process. “I think that means I'm probably the last dinosaur in the industry,” says Newi. I explained it His time at Red Bull. “That's what I grew up with. I like the ability to sketch on a decent scale. What I like about drawing boards is that I can lay out things.”
When words broke ahead of last season's Miami Grand Prix, some former drivers on the team that Newey would leave Red Bull shared their thoughts on the legendary engineer in the heart of his famous drawing painting.
“I say that. The very talented and most successful engineers in our sport's history are very, very, a specific approach you know,” Pierre Guthrie told the media. SB Nation. “I still remember going to Milton Keynes and drawing all sorts of things on this board, and I thought.”[i]sHow do you draw F1 cars these days? ”
“And it was very impressive and actually probably my best memories [then]to work with such a special individual and learn from him.
“I had a very good relationship [him]a very humble man, straight to the Earth, performing. And while obviously his knowledge and approach to Formula 1 is very efficient, it was a lot of good memories,” Guthrie continued. “I was always walking through his office and just looking like what you see on his desk and his board, it was so amazing, it was very unique.”
Newy faces a unique challenge at Aston Martin. His arrival follows pre-season testing. In other words, it's too late to influence the design of the AMR 25, the team's challenger for the 2025 season. But he can certainly help upgrade to this year's car while starting his challenger next year.
When radical new technical regulations arrived.
These new regulations give Newey the opportunity to stand in front of that drawing and perhaps he does what he does best. Solve new mysteries.
“I enjoy changing regulations,” Newey is quoted as saying Formula. “The thing that probably enjoys most about my job is to understand what those regulations mean, what their intentions are, and whether subtle differences are allowed. [us to explore] A new horizon. ”
The process begins today with Newey and Aston Martin.
