Zelensky: 'Ukraine is fighting for the normal and safe life it deserves'

Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky said on Monday that his country is “fighting for a normal and safe life that is worthy of it,” and Republicans argue that he is blocking peace talks.

“Ukraine is fighting for a fair and reliable peace for a normal and safe life that deserves it. We want to end this war,” Zelensky said. I'll post it on social Platform X was launched after a heated oval office meeting with President Trump and Vice President Vance on Friday.

Zelensky said Russia's “air horror” about Ukraine has continued, with 1,050 drone attacks, around 1,300 bombs and more than 20 missiles fired in Ukraine in the past week.

“People seeking negotiations will not intentionally attack civilians with ballistic missiles,” the Ukrainian president added. “To force Russia to stop the attack, it takes greater collective strength from the world.”

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky on Friday began with a Cordial, but fell off the rails when the vice president forced Zelensky to “diplomatic relations,” urging Ukrainian leaders to ask, “What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you talking?” – The ceasefire agreement has passed, pointing to past examples of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After the meeting, Trump said on his true social platform that the Ukrainian president “is not ready for peace because he feels that our involvement is giving him a great advantage in negotiations when America is involved.”

Trump is calling for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, with senior US officials meeting in Saudi Arabia last month.

Democrats say Trump has already made important concessions to Russia before negotiations began. Last month, Defense Secretary Pete Hegses said last month that Ukraine should not expect to join NATO or reclaim all its territory under Russian occupation.

Zelensky had ostensibly visited Washington to sign a mineral contract that could provide access to Ukraine's natural resource revenue in exchange for some continuing economic and security partnership.

“It's about strengthening air defense, supporting the troops and ensuring effective security assurances that make it impossible for Russian invasions to return, which is what we have to focus on,” Zelensky said on Monday's X-Post.

“Justice must prevail. We believe in the power of unity and certainly restore lasting peace.”
