NY Gov Hochul says she’ll lead ‘resistance’ against Trump after shifting stance

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that he will “lead resistance” against President Donald Trump a few weeks after he told reporters his opposition.

During an interview with Hochul, he said, “I'll fight back hard.” NPR's “Morning Edition” On Monday, when asked about the sacrifice of the crowd price in New York City, which the Trump administration moved to block last month.

“We provided olive branches, [we said] “We'll work with you on the infrastructure. Let's start over at Penn Station,” Hochur said. But when you draw us the first blood, we will come back hard. And I will lead the resistance of such policies that you are directly hurting New Yorkers. This is our decision, not yours. ”

But less than two weeks later, the Democratic governor told reporters exactly what he was opposed to.

Later that month, Hochul met with Trump for a one-on-one meeting at the White House, and the governor made the program's claims. However, Hochul later said that the meeting likely did not convince Trump to change his mind about the program.

On Monday, Hochul also said it would be up to the Democratic governor to become a “firewall” for the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress, who threaten to cut federally funded social programs.
