Some Washingtonians are frustrated after learning that the current appearance of Black Life Matter Plaza is counted, near the White House.
The protesters were in the plaza on Tuesday night. Fox 5 DC reported, After Mayor Muriel Bowser posted on X about Plaza's “evolution” he said he will become part of DC's America 250 mural project, “inviting students and artists to create new murals in all 8th wards.”
“The murals inspired millions of people and helped our city through painful periods, but now we can't afford to be distracted by meaningless council interference,” Bowser's statement refers to a recently introduced bill calling for changes to the square.
Some say the Democratic mayor has succumbed to pressure from both President Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress.

Bowser's approach to the protest led her to a direct conflict with Trump. The then president accused Bowser of losing control of her city and threatened to invoke his powers to take over the metropolitan police station. He did not follow through, but declared his own multi-agency lockdown, including helicopters flying at low altitudes.
