Mark Wahlberg’s prayer app Hallow launches new Lent challenge

Actor Mark Wahlberg brought faith to modern times, with Catholic prayer app Harrow deepening his spiritual journey, just in time for Lent.

“I would say there is no existence other than the humble servant of God,” Wahlberg told Benjamin Hall, senior foreign correspondent at Fox News. “I was placed in this position for a certain reason.”

Wahlberg is a key figure in Harrow, a Catholic prayer and meditation app that helps users incorporate faith into their daily lives. This lending “Hallow” launches the Pray40 Challenge for Lent and features special guests leading daily prayer and meditation sessions.

For Wahlberg, Lent is a very meaningful time, a season of reflection and renewal, bringing him closer to God.

“It reminds me that I need to do more, and I need to be better,” he said. “There are some things in my life that take me away from my focus on developing my relationships and getting closer to God. Of course, live a life full of the purpose he has chosen for me.”

Lent begins today on Ash Wednesday and continues until Easter Sunday in April. As part of the Halloween Challenge, Wahlberg will be joining Chris Pratt and other guests in a special session focusing on fasting, one of the central pillars of Lent.

Wahlberg believes that Lent is not just about personal sacrifice, but also about recognizing human imperfections and striving to be better.

“I think we all have something to repent,” he told Hall.

“I had a very troublesome childhood. Until now, I've been feeling anxious about people, anxious about people, an ununderstanding, thoughtful, and I'm caught up in all of this every day in your life. There's only the perfect person who walked this earth.

Last year, Harrow was on loan #1 app on the Apple App Storethe first time religious apps have reached the top spot. Wahlberg hopes that success will continue, helping young people to build stronger connections with their faith and avoid the mistakes he made in his youth.

“Encourage young people to avoid the same mistakes I have made and to avoid what others have made. Every day with God in your life, you will be in a position where you can make the right choice,” Wahlberg said.

“I don't know about 50, 60 movies. People always come to me and say something. But most of the time… people usually talk about being sacred and how much life changed.

The Halloween Lent Pray40 Challenge is underway, and Wahlberg and other faith leaders are invited to people all over the world to pray, reflect and take part in renewal.
