The gap between the two most exaggerated quarterback outlooks in this year's slimy class is one of the “huge” proportions.
According to NFL insider Peter Schrager, Miami's Come Ward is considered a top option at quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, followed by a vast space before Chedure Sanders, the son of NFL legend Dion Sanders, enters the frame.
“This year, Cam Ward has a huge advantage, but despite his great years in Washington and Miami, he wasn't seen in the same category as the top three guys (last year), which is a huge drop-off from what I've gathered and I've just seen it as a prospect. [Ole Miss quarterback] Jaxson Dart, and a bunch of unknowns.” Schrager said About the Bill Simmons Podcast.
“…I think Chedur is seen closer to Jackson Dart than she is seen closer to Come Ward.”
There were plenty of quarterback options in 2024, as six players in that position were drafted in the first round.
Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels and Drake May were the top three selections in last year's draft, going to the Bears (No. 1), Commander (No. 2), and Patriots (No. 3), respectively.
Michael Penix landed with the Falcons on No. 8, followed by JJ McCarthy in the Vikings on No. 10 and landed on No. 12 with the Broncos on No. 12 with the Broncos on the Bonnix.
Ward – came out of his fifth college season when he threw for 4,313 yards, Miami's 39 touchdowns and seven intercepts. He was an NFC executive who praised the 22-year-old's “incredible leadership” and was impressed by the combine. On Yahoo Sports.
“[He’s] The unknown executive continued.
Sanders, who had been at the helm of his father's Buffalo team for the past two seasons since starting at Jackson State, sparked the buzz after comparing it to a program changer.
“His point at the combine, and that's how he rubbed people wrong, and the way he had bravely is changing places when he gets there,” Schrager said Tuesday.
“So Jackson state obviously didn't have the resources to suddenly become a national name from this HBCU. And he went to Colorado and we had a week of “big noon kickoff” and “Gameday” from Fox in its second week, fighting for Boulder's real estate. That happens. ”
Sanders, 23, and Ward were predicted to go to the first round for a while, but quarterbacks Needy Titan, Browns and Giants all hold picks in the top three, while another quarterback recently joined the conversation in the form of a 21-year-old DART.
USA Today has been ranked Dirt as the second-best quarterback to throw a combine behind Missouri's Brady Cook.
Sanders and Ward did not take part in throwing the drill.
The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft will take place on Thursday, April 24th.
