The chargers are letting go of one of their biggest stars.
Los Angeles released defensive end Joey Bosa on Wednesday night after spending nine years with the team.
The 29-year-old Bosa won a cap hit of over $36 million in 2025. This year, despite a $111.11 million in dead money fee, the charger will save $25.36 million. According to the limit.
The Ohio State product quickly entered the scene as the third pick of all 2016 draft picks, earning the AP Defensive Player of the Year after recording 10.5 sacks and 41 tackles.
The five Pro Bowl campaigns that followed included one of 2024 as the charger made the playoffs in Jim Harbaugh's first year.
However, the injury has hindered him with broken hands at training camps over the past few years and glue strain affecting his sciatic nerve.
Over the past three seasons, he has scored 18 in 28 games.
“I feel like I'm losing my team and losing these games,” Bosa told reporters in October about his injury. “It disappoints everyone, it disappoints the coaches. It disappoints the organization. It disappoints yourself over the past few years and sucks on how this year has passed.”

“I definitely hit a low point dealing with this, but it made me mentally stronger,” he added. “When you're there, it sometimes feels hopeless and like, 'Man, I don't want to do this.' ”
Bosa, with 72 bags, ranks second in the history of the Chargers franchise.
