Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) has introduced legislation to ban foreign flag displays at the Capitol.
Moreno, a legal immigrant from Colombia, came to the US as a child and built an impressive car dealership chain business before the election last year for the Senate, told Breitbart News that flying foreign flags like Ukraine in Congress would be uncomfortable for Americans.
“When I came to this country as a child, I pledged my loyalty to America and America, so it's very uncomfortable for me to see elected officials flying foreign flags like Ukraine in the halls of Congress,” Moreno told Breitbart News. “We've always made a vow to the American people who put them first, and that's how they start behave and stop sending billions abroad in endless wars when the average American is struggling.”
A new bill he just introduced, called the “Loyalty Act,” would make it illegal for Congress members to use official funds to purchase flags other than the American flag. Additionally, if the flag is not a US flag, it will be prohibited from displaying the national flag on the Capitol.
The two-page bill from Moreno comes as even Democrats and some founding Republicans seek to garner support for Ukraine after last week's explosive oval office meeting between Ukrainian leaders Voldymir Zelensky and President Donald Trump. Zelensky erupted in an indifferent Tilade against Vice President J.D. Vance and President Trump, who drove him out of the White House grounds, causing delays in signing a negotiated mineral trade between the United States and Ukraine. Trump said that Zelensky, the president of Ukrainian, demonstrated that he had no interest in peace, using the declaration of martial law, which expired last May but suspended domestic elections until after the war with Russia was concluded.
Zelensky has yet to apologise for the anti-American explosion in the oval office, but Trump announced in a joint speech to Congress Tuesday evening that Zelensky regretted how it went and wrote to him that he would sign a delayed mineral trade, saying he was ready for peace. A sharp turnaround came from Zelensky after the White House cut off all military aid to Ukraine, stopped sharing intelligence with a war-torn country, and essentially forced Zelensky's hands.
Moreno, meanwhile, is one of Trump's most enthusiastic allies on Capitol Hill. He moved to Breitbart News later last year that he intends to become one of Trump's most intense champions in the US Senate, and he has definitely lived on that promise this year after more than a month of Trump's second term at the White House. Moreno votes and defends each and every Trump candidate, and he regularly has an offensive voice to support all of Trump's purposes.
