The Biden administration has only been locked up and linked to the country out of more than 100 migrants suspected of illegally ties with ISIS in the US, the National Intelligence Director revealed during a visit to the border.
The Trump administration is currently working to hunt down suspects of terrorism and pick up the pieces left behind by the last administration, Gabbard said at a press conference with Vice President JD Vance and the Secretary of Defense in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Immigrants from ISIS, which employ hotbed countries in Central Asia, were known to have ties to “ISIS-related networks,” the former Democrat said.
The Biden administration has previously been informed that more than 4,000 immigrants have used ISIS-bound smugglers to travel to the United States, and that their “hundreds” have been identified as “related to known or known terrorists,” Gabbard said.
Gabbard said that when she took over, she discovered that of these eight immigrants, she was still trapped or deported.
“That information was provided to the Biden administration. You may remember it from some news. More than 100 of these people arrested in 2024. Of those arrested, only eight were deported or remained detained,” she said.
“Only eight people, the rest have been released to our country. Where are they? What are they doing? What are they plotting? This is just the beginning,” she added.
Gabbard joined Vance along with Defense Secretary Pete Hegses on Wednesday for a tour of the tropical border of Eagle Pass, where he spoke to federal and local leaders and visited the detention centre.
While speaking to reporters, Vance touted President Trump's success in securing borders that have fallen to the lowest level in history where illegal intersections have been recorded.
According to Vance, daily illegal immigration crossings have dropped from 1,500 to 30 in the area where Eagle Pass is located.
“We didn't need new laws, we didn't need flashy laws, we needed a new US president,” Vance said.
Hegseth reflected Vance's statement, but said they weren't making it and wouldn't finish the job until they had full “operational control” of the region.
