Ruben Amorim fears he ‘will not have same time’ as Arteta to improve United | Manchester United

Reuben Amorim sees Mikel Arteta's rebuilding of Arsenal as inspiration, but does not believe it will be granted simultaneously to reverse the fate of Manchester United.

United host Arsenal on Sunday won one of his last four Premier League matches. They were 14th with 33 points, with Arteta's team in second place with 54, and after a 7-1 first game victory at PSV Eindhoven, they were everything to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Arteta took over Arsenal on the 10th of December 2019. That season he led them to the FA Cup and the eighth time, but was under pressure the next semester. The team slid towards the relegation zone and finished in 8th again. Arteta has not won another trophy, but improved Arsenal to fifth place in 2021-22, finishing second in the last two campaigns.

Part of Arteta's club shift had to do with offloading notable players who believed they didn't fit his vision, such as MesutÖzil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. At United, Marcus Rashford is on loan to Aston Villa for what Amorim called “training reasons,” and the forwards can leave with others forever in the summer as the head coach tries to rebuild his team.

Amorim was asked if his role resembles the challenges Arteta faced. “I don't feel that,” he said. “I don't have the time Arteta had – I feel that. It's a different club. So we need to survive with the players. [available] on sunday. I think it's a different club. On that front, the way Arteta handled it is inspiration for everyone, but there's no time like Arteta. ”

From 3:15pm on Sunday, United fans will march about a mile from Tallgate Pub to Old Trafford in protest of Glazers' ownership. Supporters are being urged by fan groups to wear black to show that the club is “slowly dying.”

Amorim said: “For anyone at our club, it's a really tough moment. It's all at the same time. The only thing I can do is what our players can do. People have the right to protest. I think it's good to do that. It's part of our club. Everyone has a voice. But our job and my job is to improve our team and give something in this moment. They deserve it and are amazing.”

After Arsenal, United host Real Sociedad was exhausted by injuries in the 1-1 first-leg draw in Spain on Thursday, Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte in the final 16th tie in the Europa League. He was asked if they could face Arsenal.

Amorim said: We need to survive on Sunday – the team has been very tired in the last 20 minutes. We have to prepare for Sunday and think about this important game for the Thursday season. ”

Amorim said he hoped Amado Diallo would return to the final month of the season following ankle ligament injuries and that Lisandro Martinez would be the only player who had no chance to be featured before the end of the campaign.
