San Jose, California – Kyle Palmieri will remain on Long Island.
The islanders signed an extension to Brock Nelson and gave up on placing him in Colorado late Thursday night, but the club follows the league's sources to keep Palmieri and try to expand him.
Although it has not been agreed yet, both sides are close enough that they are believed to be able to solve something in the next few days.
Palmieri is said to want to stay on Long Island.
Keeping Palmieri means that the islanders can continue to push playoff spots. Because both he and Nelson had made a big hole in the team's forward group.
As of Friday morning, the island is four points below the cut line.
