This week, around 4,000 Pentagon (DOD) employees received cancellation notices as the Trump administration moves forward with plans to reduce the federal government.
ABC News reported that 3.5% of the total workforce of DOD private workers, plus 31,000 private employees, have submitted requests for resignation for each office in personnel management emails sent to employees.
Some of these requests will be denied because those employees are exempt, the report says. So far, 11,000 of those who filed their resignation have accepted the request.

DOD declined to comment on the issue to Fox News Digital. Fox News Digital has reached out to several defense agencies.
DOD has launched its first layoffs as probation employees from multiple agencies were let go, the Federal News Network reported.
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), which serves as the logistics and supply chain management department of DOD, has fired 100 probation employees.

“The DLA has released probation employees that are consistent with the Department of Defense's broader efforts to ensure resources are in line with the strategic objectives of the department,” an agency spokesman told the outlet.
A spokesman for the Defense Health Organization (DHA) told the federal news network that layoffs are limited to “essentially administrative” headquarters positions.
“DHA is running OSD [Office of the Secretary of Defense] Guidance according to EO [executive order] Regarding the dismissal of probation employees,” the agency said in a statement.
