The Chiefs secured a key element of defense and guaranteed $30 million by re-signing linebacker Nick Bolton to a three-year, $45 million contract.
This comes as the Chiefs aim to revive their defense following the appearance of another Super Bowl last season. According to ESPN.
Since being selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Bolton has been instrumental in the Chiefs' defense.
Bolton soon appeared and led the team with 112 tackles and gained a reputation as a rookie starter and a quality run stopper.
Over the past four seasons, Bolton has accumulated 458 tackles, including a franchise record of 180 in 2022.
Consistent performance from Missouri products cements his role as a central figure in the Chiefs' defense.
His new contract is worth $15 million a year, and he places Bolton among the NFL's top-paid internal linebackers.
Bolton started 53 of 57 NFL appearances, recording five sacks and four intercepts using two forced fumbles.
Bolton ran a fumble recovery as a rookie for an 86-yard touchdown.
The two-time Super Bowl champion ran the 36-yard Jalen Hurts Funble and got a touchdown with a touchdown with the Eagles in the Chiefs 2023 Super Bowl.
The Chiefs failed to secure three peats for the historic Super Bowl this season and fell to the same Eagles 40-22.
