John MacArthur Says He’s on the ‘Last Lap’ of Life but Hopes to Preach Again Soon

Author and pastor John MacArthur told attendees at the Church Leader's Conference on Friday that he was on the “final rap” of his life, adding that although he lost some of his strength during his long stay in the hospital, he felt “great” and wanted to return to the pulpit.

“Thank you for the prayer, thank you Faithful Being a part of Shepherds' meeting. I pray for you, bless the Lord in an extraordinary way, and ask him to sharpen us all for what the Lord has for us in the future.

“I found myself on the last rap, which takes on a new meaning when you know you're on the short edge of a candle,” he said. “But I thank and praise God for everything God has allowed me to be a part of it, and for everything that has been accomplished by His Word.”

MacArthur's voice was weaker it was When he last preached Grace Community Church November 24th. During that sermon he explained how he had endured three heart surgeries the previous month.

“So you need to know my disappointment that you come to you through the video. It really has become the only option. he I said. “I feel good. I lost a lot of power after seven weeks in the hospital. That means it's the hospital that can kill you. You can survive the illness. If you can survive in the hospital, after that You won at all levels. It physically hit me, so I'm seeing a physical therapist and trainer and trying to get back as soon as possible. ”
