Warriors’ Stephen Curry named assistant GM for Davidson basketball

If being an NBA superstar isn't enough, Stephen Curry takes on his second job as he embraced the role of general manager of basketball assistant at his alma mater Davidson College.

“Davidson's experience is top notch,” Curry said in a release through the school. “From my arrival at Davidson in 2006, I have now had the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level, have received an incredible education, and have demonstrated that I have a great network through Davidson alumni and can continue to wave Davidson's flag.”

Curry spent three seasons with the Wildcats since 2006-09, averaging 25.3 points.

He won two national honors and led Davidson to an Elite 8 appearance. There, the Wildcats lost just two points to the final National Champion Kansas.

Davidson also hired Austin Bunz as general manager and assistant athletic director of basketball development. He is a former member of Under Armour's Global Basketball Sports Marketing Team and has been working with Davidson's Athletic Finance Division since 2021.

Curry has been signed by Under Armour since 2013 and is currently on a lifetime contract. He has his own signature line, curry brand, within the Jordanian brand with Nike.

Davidson's team wears Under Armour and Curry Apparel Since 2016.

The school is based in Davidson, North Carolina, known for its outstanding academic reputation Ranking 14th in Japan Among the National College of Liberal Arts via US News & World Report Rankings.

Now the goal is to have the Wildcats compete with the college basketball elite, especially Duke and North Carolina, who built the College Hoop Empire in the same state.

In a landscape of names, images and portraits where money means everything, more than $10 million funds will give Davidson a huge boost, more than many power conference teams can boast.

In his gush about his Davidson experience, Curry added, “I want a very talented, high-character student-athletes to have the same experience.”
