I also did the MBM reverse fixture earlier this season, where the Hammers were surprise 2-0 winners at St James Park in November.

Hello world, and welcome to the game that absolutely nobody knows as The Glenn Roeder Derby. The late West Ham and Newcastle manager, who also featured nearly 200 times for the Magpies as a player in the 1980s, became the first person to win anything with the north-east side in 37 years when Newcastle won the Intertoto Cup (well, they were handed it by default as the last surviving Intertoto entrants in the Uefa Cup) in 2006 – following a seventh-placed finish the season previous – under Roeder’s stewardship.

While the Intertoto is not recognised as a major trophy, meaning Newcastle’s drought continues to stretch back to 1969. The Roeder years are not looked on particularly fondly by either West Ham (despite finishing seventh in 2001-02) or Newcastle fans, but how both teams would take a seventh-placed finish and a bit of silverware this year.

West Ham’s season, however, is pretty much done. Out of all cups and in the league, they are too good to go down and too inconsistent to qualify for anything else. There have been signs of life under Graham Potter, who will surely be using the rest of the campaign to figure out a gameplan for next season.

For Newcastle trip to east London tonight is a little more pertinent. Not only are they just about in the hunt for Champions League/Europa League/Europa Conference League qualification in the league, but this is the final game before the Carabao Cup final on Sunday against Liverpool. Will Eddie Howe look to rest a few key players? Or could that be detrimental to the league season, and the sharpness, form and fitness for the players on Sunday? We will find out very shortly.

Important Events

20 minutes: A great save from Arera! Burns redirects Trippia's cross shot, and the West Ham keeper responds immediately, fleeing to the left and tilting the ball around the post. From the resulting corner there is a half-hearted penalty appeal from Newcastle, like Guymare falling over a West Ham box. However, the judgement and the subsequent verbs and waves play.

Share

18 minutes: A lovely little thru slips a little ball from Guimarès finds Burns, but the British are all wrong with his angles.

Share

15 minutes: A lull of play as Newcastle pings it a little behind without making any notes.

Share

13 minutes: Jollington is punished by pulling Suesek's shirt in an aviation duel. I have a hard time thinking about a higher middle midfield pairing.

Share

11 minutes: Burns will definitely start from left-wing position in the Carabao Cup final, and will cut from his side and release Murphy if he is still healthy. But it's a poor pass towards Isaac to the middle.

Share

9 minutes: “This photo of Scott Parker and IntertotoC-u-p-Plaque are the perfect rationale for the psychological state of Newcastle (and perhaps West Ham) fans right now. “Newcastle fans have spent last month trying to ignore our Precup Final Dome Spiral®, while Hammer fans have spent last month trying to (probably) forgetting that Constantino Sumab Panos is on the team. I don't really know who really wants this fixture to go ahead? If someone is thw “Glenn Lauder Shuffle” as a goal celebration I did it I think it's worth it. ”

7 minutes: It was a bright start from West Ham. Graham Potter flies around the technical area and clapped wildly.

Share

5 minutes: Bowen wiggles Jollington and whips a dangerous cross near Newcastle. Burn distorts his clearance and is relieved to see it fly harmlessly on his own bar.

Share

3 minutes: Kudus lost the ball midfield and Trippier is on it in an instant. Only a great slide tackle from Kilman will stop the dangerous Newcastle counterattack. Kilman was out of position and completely committed to that tackle. He had to win the ball, and he did.

Share

1 minute: There's a great chance to score in 43 seconds with the watch and West Ham! Kudus flips Schar over on the left and crosses at the back post towards Soucek. The Czech International takes a clumsy first touch, but still avoids Librament, but fires up from six yards with his weak feet. Soucek chased that heavy first touch, but still had to fill it up, so he was on the way!

Peeeeeeeep!

Ongoing in East London.

We also performed an MBM reverse fix at the beginning of this season. There, Hammer surprised the 2-0 winner at St. James Park in November.

The two teams are at London Stadium. The famous claret and blue West Ham, and the variations in the turquoise/white strips from Newcastle.

Michail Antonio will be at the stadium tonight. He's happy to say he's walking around upright, as he's getting warm applause from the fans of his home, despite his tears being countered. What an emotional welcome for a striker who got involved in a horror car accident just three months ago.

This was an interesting story Since last week. If Angel Gomez joins West Ham, it will be even bigger narrower into minutes of the proceedings of James Ward Prowls, Carlos Soller and Guido Rodriguez. Ward Prowles begins again tonight and he is doing the right thing as his return to XI coincides with his victory over Arsenal and Leicester.

Russell Martinformer Southampton manager is a guest expert at Tonight Sky Sports in the UK. Where will he end? Many are put off in the way Southampton played in the Premier League this year, but many feel that it has been worse since his departure. He suggests that he didn't have a good player to suit his system, but he's not without his fault.

Remembering the previous season, Burnley was demoted under Vincent Company, who had similar tactical evangelism. And the Belgians got a job in Bavaria. I'm not suggesting that Martin be the manager of the European giant anytime soon, but I wonder if the European club might take the punt. There are other UK coaches, such as Liam Rosenior, who are still doing well overseas.

If you forgot Glenn Loaderthis is worth reading. Written by Louise Taylor after the death of Lauder in 2021.

It is worth noting that his stint as Newcastle manager was not only unavailable for most of Roeder's tenure, but was also seriously injured by the injury (injury?) of Michael Owen, who had a lot of Newcastle's transfer and wage budget at the time.

Well, no one's resting. Fair Play – both Svenbotman and Lewis Hall are out with long-term injuries, and don't forget Anthony Gordon is suspended following a red CAD at Brighton in the FA Cup.

Speaking of Brighton, it doesn't look great for them, and West Ham lender Evan Ferguson can't get a kick because of the lack of the center. Jarrod Bowen will again lead the line to become fair beat Arsenal (away) and Leicester in the last two games.

preamble

Welcome to Hello World and to a game no one knows as Glenn Roeder Derby. The late West Ham and Newcastle managers, who featured nearly 200 times in Magpies as players in the 1980s, became the first to win something on the Northeast side in 1937 when Newcastle won the Intertote Cup (well, they were handed over by default as the entrance to the last surviving Intertoto in the UEFA Cup).

Although Intertoto is not recognized as a major trophy, Newcastle's drought continues back to 1969. Roeder years are not particularly nostalgic by West Ham (even though it came in 7th place between 2001 and 2002) or Newcastle fans, but how both teams take the seventh finish this year and a bit of silverware

But most of the West Ham season is taking place. Of all the cups, in the league, they are too good to get off and not qualify for anything else. There were signs of life under Graham Potter. Graham Potter will use the rest of the campaign to get a sense of his game plan for next season.

A little more appropriate for a trip to Newcastle's East London trip tonight. Not only are they in the hunt in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League/European League/European Conference League in the league, but this is the final match before Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Liverpool. Will Eddie Howe try to put a few key players down? Or is it harmful to the league season and is it possible to sharpen, shape and fitness for the players on Sunday? We'll know soon.

kick off: GMT at 8pm.
