Nets hold off LeBron James-less Lakers to snap seven-game skid

They held them down when the net defeated the Lakers on Monday after blowing a big lead in consecutive games with Golden State and Charlotte.

The net put together a 111-108 slump bust victory over the Lakers before a sold-out crowd of 18,215 at Barclays Center.

The victory snapped the longest seven-game losing skid in the NBA, tied it for the Nets' worst for the worst of the season.

“That's part of the experience, right?” Coach Jordi Fernandez said in advance. “When I was a little kid, my dad always said, 'Don't do this, or else I'd get hurt.' What do you guess? I did it, I was hurt, and that's how I learned. So it is [part of] Raising children.

“And our peers are mostly great. They learn and listen. And I don't have all the answers. I tell them, 'You know, I'm wrong too.' But… our peers care and we know that we can be a better rebound team than the last game. And we know that, so I believe they come out with better effort. ”

Monday's efforts were impressive.

And the net (22-42) didn't suffer from the lottery race either. He continued to play half the match behind fifth-placed Toronto, but Philadelphia was settling down in his sixth tie.

Noah Crowney left the bench with 19 points and five rebounds in his second game after missing six weeks with an ankle injury. Keon Johnson and Cam Johnson, who turned 23 on Monday, each scored 18 points.

But what won that day was defense.

The net stacked up a 19-4 edge at the point of turnover.

It was enough to survive Luka Donsic's triple double (22 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists) and Gabe Vincent's 24 points.

The Lakers were without LeBron James and former Net Dorian Finney Smith.

However, the net had its own concerns and played without Cam Thomas and Trendern Watford.

And they blew a 22-point lead against the Warriors on Thursday and blew a 17-point cushion with the Hornets on Saturday and did it with a seven-game skid.

However, this time, the net flipped the script and pulled out of the early 15-point hole.

The net allowed a 12-1 first quarter blitz within two minutes.

And the expanded 26-9 Lakers run, with Jordan Goodwin running three pointers in the second quarter 30 minutes later, followed the net 31-15.

However, they responded with a 19-7 run, with Cam Johnson's three-pointer giving them a 48-47 lead they took to the locker room.

Then the 9-1 net run – covered in Keon Johnson 3-Pointer – gave the night's biggest lead at 8:24 in the third inning, 59-51.

Unlike the previous two contests, there was no meltdown this time.

Austin cut the 30 footer again to 106-103.

Doncic's contested 31 footer put the Lakers inside Deuce.

However, Clowney was freed for the dunk, drew a foul on Vincent, changing one.

Cam Johnson was able to cover it with ice on the line with two seconds left, but only missed both free throws.

However, Donsic only descended 77 feet of bumps, which were lacking.
