U.S.-Ukraine Path to Peace Talks Begin in Saudi Arabia

We will discuss whether Ukraine is engaging with President Donald Trump's peace process and as a result, it is ready to regain access to the US military aid and intelligence news on Tuesday morning.

Ukraine has discussed the start of “constructively” with the United States, Kiev provincial media reported Tuesday morning. Delegations from the US and Ukraine met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is the first face-to-face discussion between the two countries since Ukrainian President Voldy Mie Zelensky's disastrous attempt on powerful diplomacy in the oval office in February.

Representatives of the United States were Secretary of State Marco Rubio and national security adviser Mike Waltz, both of whom were sitting around the table in previous Saudi stories with Russia. In the case of Ukraine, the delegation includes Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha, trusted aide to Voldimi Zelensky and Chief of Staff Andriy Yamak, and Defence Minister Rastem Umerov.

President Zelensky himself was in Saudi Arabia on Monday for consultations with the Crown Prince, but left the country before today's talks began. Today's talks are mediated by Saudi Arabia's Prince Faisal bin Fahan al Saud and national security adviser Mosad bin Mohammad al Aivan.

Yermak, a former film producer who was close to Zelensky since his pre-politics days as a Ukrainian comedian and actor, said of his speech when they kicked off: We are working towards just and lasting peace.”

Both sides hope to reset relations between nations following a sarcasm retort by President Zelensky in the oval office last month, leading to an angry response of respect from Vice President JD Vance and Zelensky. Speaking before today's lecture, Yermak said that Ukraine is ready for “just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”

This is a positive development and a step towards reopening US aid to Kiev, but similar remarks were made before the White House meeting. President Trump emphasized the ability to lead Russia to the negotiation table at all, and the importance of finding a peace deal to end what the president called Ukraine's “killing field.”

Even talking to journalists overnight on a flight to Saudi Arabia, Rubio telegraphs his hopes for consultations, and Tuesday's key ambition is to discover whether Ukraine is truly ready for peace. It has been reported Guardian. He said: “The most important thing we have to leave here is the strong sense that Ukraine is ready to do things that are difficult, to end this conflict, or at least in some way, to pause it in form or form.”

Both sides need to come to the realisation that there will never be a military victory over either of them in the conflict, Rubio said. Ukraine, he states, is interpreted as unable to fight the way back to the border in 2014, meaning that the possible outcome of the final peace negotiations will transfer at least some territory in the price of the end of the killing.

Both Rubio and his colleague, the US Secretary of Defense, made clear that the suspension of the US halt of aid to Ukraine was a negotiation tactic in Washington to encourage Kiev to take peace talks seriously, and that it would turn around when Ukraine came to the table.

Russia does not exist in today's talks, but nevertheless claims that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov is claiming Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory – pointing to a drone attack on Moscow overnight.
