Nets cough up chance to stun NBA-best Cavaliers in latest late-game collapse

Cleveland is the best team in the NBA. The net approached being the best team on the floor, and one endgame ran.

The net, which blew away and turned the slow lead into art, did it again on Tuesday night. They dumped the fourth quarter cushion and defeated the 109-104 to the Cavaliers before a 19,432 sold out crowd at Rocket Arena.

Brooklyn led by 18 points in the third quarter and eight points in the fourth quarter. However, they lost the lead and eventually spit out a 23-8 Cleveland run to lose the game.

Nets (22-43) moved to tie with idol Toronto in fifth place in the lottery, moving to ½ game ahead of the 7th place 76ers.

Cleveland, coached by former Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson, improved to 55-10. They won a franchise record 15 consecutive wins and a division title.

Cam Thomas led the net with 27 points, while Cam Johnson is visibly upset after this latest collapse – added 17 and five rebounds.

However, the net, which played without D'Angelo Russell, has now reached 9-2 in the past few minutes.

The Cavaliers didn't have star guard Donovan Mitchell. But they still had big threes: Evan Mobley (21 points), Darius Garland (game high 30 points), and former Net Jarrett Allen (23 points, 13 boards).

The trio proved too much for Brooklyn to handle.
