John Ratcliffe and Sergeinalischkin, the chiefs of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Agency, or CIA director of the SVR, spoke on the phone during recent peace talks with Ukraine on Tuesday, supporting the 30-day ceasefire.

The conversation between Naryshkin and Ratcliffe was partly to form an open line of communication between the two aspects. Axios reported on Wednesdaycites sources that are familiar with Call.
This was the first call among spy chiefs as President Trump took on the oval office on January 20th. It came a day after Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the ceasefire.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Kiev is supporting the proposal and that it will follow in Russia.
“Our hope is that the Russians say yes, they will agree, so we can talk in a way that is acceptable and lasting for both sides about how to end this war forever,” Rubio said.
Rubio's comments came after US officials met with senior Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Trump administration restored intelligence reports and military aid to Kiev, which was suspended later last month after a controversial round trip between President Trump, Vice President Vance Vance and Ukrainian President Voldy Mil Zelensky.

Tuesday's call shows increased efforts by Washington for communication with Moscow.
US officials, including Rubio, Waltz and Middle Eastern mission Steve Witkov, discussed last month with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and foreign advisor Yuri Ushakov in Saudi Arabia. There, both sides spoke about ending the Russian-Ukurean war.
Witkov is reportedly traveling to Moscow on Thursday to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. Multiple outlets Reported this weekcite sources familiar with this issue.

“It was an important step, and I think there was a lot of discussion related to this discussion between our team and Ukrainians and Europeans,” Witkov said, adding in the later part of the interview that the representatives involved in peace talks to talk about Ukrainian territorial issues and security protocols.
“These are not complicated. They just need to… be on the table, everyone needs to be transparent about what their expectations are, and we can discuss how to compromise,” said Envoy of the Middle East.
