PGA Tour to move up Players Championship tee times with severe weather looming

The powerful front is expected to travel through northeast Florida on Sunday afternoon, forcing the PGA Tour to implement a final round of emergency response plans for players.

According to Jason Sobel on SiriusXM Radiothe tour will rule out both the third and tenth tees on Sunday mornings. The final group will tee off around 10am ET as tournament officials hope to complete the championship before the storm begins.

This tour made this move to avoid a Monday finish.

For perspective, the final pairing on Saturday featuring Min Woo Lee and Akshay Bhatia began its third round at 2:35pm ET. However, the intense winds blown to 30 mph, causing havoc for Lee and Batia, shooting four and two overs in the opening nine respectively.

The wild winds on Saturday are the beginning of this deadly front, moving across the southeastern United States. These gusts return Sunday morning, with 15-25 mph winds coming from the southeast. Gusts of wind can reach up to 30, and it won't settle down even when worn on the day.

As for television coverage, Golf Channel will begin its final round of television broadcasts at 10am, with NBC picking it up at noon.
